Rumor: Benedict Cumberbatch To Star In STAR WARS: EPISODE VII

Nick Martin June 10, 2024 1 comment
Benedict Cumberbatch-Star Wars

Adding to the pile of evidence, we've got one more Star Wars: Episode VII casting rumor which is sure to get Star Wars fans and geeks alike talking.

Benedict Cumberbatch is in talks to re-team with his Star Trek Into Darkness director J.J. Abrams for seventh film in the Star Wars space opera film series.

While promoting Star Trek Into Darkness, Cumberbatch told Total Film that he's fan of Star Wars:

I was much more connected to [Star Wars] as a kid, in the way that a lot of kids are because it's immediate storytelling, very simple – a beautifully, outrageously simple narrative in a way – and a wonderful three-act melodrama, opera. And I loved them. I really, really loved those films and I always wanted to be Han Solo. Everything Harrison Ford did I just thought was the coolest thing ever.

So what? With no real source for this news consider it a rumor such as last week's rumor that young candidates Alex Pettyfer and Rachel Hurd-Wood are in the running for Star Wars: Episode VII roles. Cumberbatch has dropped out of Guillermo Del Toro‘s Crimson Peak, and Episode VII and Crimson Peak are set to be in production at about the same time, on January, 2014. Any resemblance is pure coincidence.

Star Wars: Episode VII is tentatively slated for a Christmas 2015 release date.

Do you think he has been cast in a major villainous role for the entire trilogy as a Sith warrior?

We'll keep you posted on the situation.

After his exciting performance in Star Trek, I’m looking forward to his role in Star Wars. I believe he can do a great deal of justice to his role. Besides, he needs to just tone down his over-confidence in a role. He has this habit of overdoing a character, but that’s because of his perfect persona in Sherlock.

Anyway, among all the upcoming movies, Justice League seems to be a great movie. Here are ten great things about Justice League that has stopped the movie from going ahead. A MUST READ.
