Here's four new stills and the first poster for
Jacques Audiard‘s
Rust & Bone starring
Marion Cotillard and
Matthias Schoenaerts (Bullhead).
A French trailer is also doing the rounds online. No doubt, the movie, which is an adaptation of Craig Davidson's 2005 collection of short stories, is building up to be one of our most anticipated of the year, so everyone expects it will play the Cannes Film Festival.
Audiard's follow-up to A Prophet follows the relationship between a homeless man (Schoenaerts) and a trainer of killer whales in a sea park (Cotillard) who loses her legs in a horrific accident. The title story also involves an afflicted boxer whose hand never properly heals after a bone is broken.
The film, which screenplay Audiard co-wrote with
Thomas Bidegain (co-writer of A Prophet) also stars
Celine Sallette, Bouli Lanners and
Corinne Masiero.
Rust & Bone opens in France on the second day of the fest, on May 17th, and Sony Pictures Classics will release the film later this year.
The stills and poster all come via
