Ryan Reynolds is the Frontrunner for HIGHLANDER Reboot
Yes, finally Ryan Reynolds is the frontrunner; this time for the lead role in Lionsgate-Summit's planned Highlander. Both sides are in talks and very interested, but unable to confirm yet if an offer has been made to the thesp's camp.
Instead, Reynolds is still circling other projects and ‘could choose to pursue another project' if the Juan Carlos Fresnadillo– directed Highlander update doesn't hammer out to his liking.
Previously attached Fast Five's Justin Lin, left the project to focus on directing Fast and Furious 6.
The original series followed Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish swordsman who battled other immortal warriors through the centuries; Matt Holloway and Art Marcum wrote the script.
The original 1986 film starred Christopher Lambert.
If Reynolds, who recently wrapped R.I.P.D., does sign on, filming should get underway sometime this year.
The role would also give him another opportunity to show off his sword skills as Reynolds previously played sword-wielding Deadpool in Wolverine.
Stay tuned.
