SAG Nominees 2026: Full List, Snubs & Analysis

The rebranded "Actor Awards" embraced Ryan Coogler's genre hybrid and Netflix's star power while international cinema was left in the cold.

There’s a specific kind of whiplash that comes from watching the Screen Actors Guild—sorry, “The Actor Awards“—try to predict the Oscars while simultaneously forgetting that movies exist outside of the United States. The nominations for the 32nd annual ceremony dropped today, and the result is chaos. Ryan Coogler’s Sinners roared in with five nominations. Sentimental Value was treated like it didn’t exist. Stellan Skarsgård—a man some predicted could WIN the Oscar—got nothing.

The ceremony streams live on Netflix from the Shrine Auditorium on March 1, 2026. And coincidentally, Netflix’s own films cleaned up. Funny how that works.

What This List Actually Tells Us

The International Blackout

If your movie required subtitles, you might as well have stayed in bed. Sentimental Value got ZERO nominations—not even Skarsgård. The Secret Agent, Sirat, No Other Choice—all invisible. For the “world’s largest actors’ union,” this list is embarrassingly parochial.

The Academy’s international branch will likely correct this. But right now? Bad look.

The Netflix Factor

The platform hosting the ceremony also fields the most nominees. One Battle After Another leading with seven nominations. Frankenstein grabbing three. Coincidence? Sure. Let’s call it that.

Genre Gets Respect

Sinners is a historical-horror-musical. The fact that it landed five nominations—including Miles Caton’s surprise Supporting Actor nod—signals that the actors’ branch is finally respecting performance over prestige bait. I’ve seen this before. It feels like when Black Panther broke the dam.

The Kate Hudson Question

Kate Hudson over Amanda Seyfried? It reminds me of Jennifer Aniston in Cake—the “glam-down” role that catches voters off guard. Nice narrative. Questionable merit.

The Bottom Line

One Battle After Another leads with 7 nominations. Sinners follows with 5. Marty Supreme, Hamnet, and Frankenstein tied at 3 each.

The voters want stars, genre hits, and apparently zero subtitles. If you’re Stellan Skarsgård, today was a bad day. If you’re Ryan Coogler, you just proved that horror-musicals can play in the awards space.

March 1 on Netflix. The stat for SAG/Oscar winner overlap sits at 80%. These nominations matter.

FAQ: SAG Nominees 2026 Oscar Implications

Does the Skarsgård snub mean he’ll miss the Oscar too?

Unlikely. SAG’s general membership skews American; the Academy has a much larger international contingent. Skarsgård remains a strong Oscar contender, but his odds took a hit today. He’ll need strong guild support elsewhere—DGA, BAFTA—to recover momentum.

Why did SAG completely ignore international films this year?

Visibility and screener access. Unlike the Academy, SAG-AFTRA members aren’t required to watch international submissions. If the distributors didn’t aggressively campaign to the voting body, the films simply weren’t seen. It’s not bias—it’s laziness enabled by the system.

Is the Miles Caton nomination a fluke or real Oscar momentum?

Real momentum. SAG nominations are the single best predictor for Oscar recognition. A supporting actor slot here forces Academy voters to reconsider what they might have dismissed as “genre performance.” Caton just became a legitimate contender.
