Samuel L. Jackson Joins ROBOCOP Remake
Frequent Tarantino collaborator Samuel L. Jackson is now joining the cast of MGM's RoboCop reboot, which begins production this September in Toronto.
Jackson will reteam with the recently-announced Gary Oldman in Elite Squad director Jose Padilha‘s upcoming remake.
While Oldman plays a scientist who creates the titular cyborg creation from the body of gunned-down cop Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman), The Pulp Fiction and Avengers star is playing a ‘charismatic TV mogul' named Pat Novak who is ‘a powerful force in the Robocop world.'
As you know, the story follows a cop who — on the edge of death — is turned into a cyborg police officer.
I think it's safe to assume that Padilha's version will differ quite a bit from the original Paul Verhoeven film.
MGM is planning a release date sometime in the summer of 2013.
As for Jackson, he will be in Django Unchained as well, playing a house slave that works for Leonardo DiCaprio.
Stay tuned.
