STYD reports that
Michael J. Bassett, who last wrote and directed Solomon Kane, will direct
Silent Hill: Revelations.
Bassett revealed that the sequel will be filmed with 3-D cameras instead of being converted post production.
The plot for
Silent Hill 2 goes thusly:
The sequel follows Heather Mason, along with her father, who have been on the run – always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn't full understand, Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by horrific nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she's not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in Silent Hill forever.
Bassett is also set to write the script for
Silent Hill: Revelation 3D although
Roger Avary was previously confirmed to serve as a writer for the upcoming horror thriller.
The original Silent Hill earned over $100 million at the worldwide box office when it was released four years ago.

Update: Michael J. Bassett has addressed the Silent Hill 2 rumors over at his blog:
“There's a lot of buzz and speculation about Silent Hill online at the moment but as no official press release has been sent out yet, I'm afraid I can't make any comments one way or another.”
