Soul Surfer Trailer

Soul Surfer The new full length trailer has been released for the true-story drama Soul Surfer gives spectators the full reveal of what this story is really about. The trailer starts off like so many other sun-drenched surfing films: lots of big waves, cute boys, upbeat soft rock, and a teenage surfer sensation named Bethany Hamilton played by 17-year-old actress AnnaSophia Robb (Bridge to Terebithia) with a gift for riding the monster Hawaiian surf. But she loses her arm in a shark attack and must gain the courage to head back into the ocean after the traumatic experience and overcame all odds to become a champion again, through her sheer grit and having a steady faith. The trailer also features co-stars Helen Hunt and Dennis Quaid as Bethany’s parents, and country star Carrie Underwood in her film debut as a church youth group leader. So fourth-season “Idol” winner Carrie Underwood joins famous cast, co-starring Jeremy Sumpter, Kevin Sorbo and Craig T. Nelson.Underwood plays a church youth leader, who doles out motivating like, “I don’t know why terrible things happen to us sometimes, but I have to believe something good is going to come out of this.” The film appears to play like a cross between Jaws, Blue Crush and any number of inspirational Disney offerings. “Soul Surfer” is set for an April 8 release, likely about a month before “American Idol” crowns its latest champ. Nevertheless, the visual effects and Robb’s performance is impressive, and it’s refreshing to see a movie like this come to the big screen; a true story that inspires the best in all of us. Soul Surfer will be released to theaters on April 15, 2011. Check out the trailer below.
