American Sniper, remember that project? Hope you do, because a year ago (yeah, a year ago) we
reported that
Bradley Cooper is attached to produce (and possibly star) in an adaptation of the autobiography of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle. Well, Cooper fans have nothing to worry about 'cause Cooper is still on board, but what definitely sounds awesome is that
Steven Spielberg has signed on to direct the whole thing!
So, at this moment we know that Spielberg will direct the movie from a script written by
Jason Hall, but as we said, the whole thing is actually an adaptation of the book titled
American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History.
In this New York Times bestselling memoir, Kyle shares the true story of his extraordinary decade-long career, including his multiple combat tours in Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom) and elsewhere from 1999-2009.
Kyle's riveting first-person account of how he went from Texas rodeo cowboy to expert marksman and feared assassin offers a fascinating view of modern-day warfare and one of the most in-depth and illuminating looks into the secret world of Special Ops ever written.
At the end of this report let us also add that Spielberg also will produce with Andrew Lazar and Peter Morgan, and the first-quarter 2014 start date is being targeted.
