Ben Stiller insists it was an incredible thrill appearing with Robert Downey Jr. in upcoming movie ‘Tropic Thunder‘ because he is such a huge fan of his work.
Ben – who both directs and stars in the film – said:
“It was incredible working with Robert. I'd never worked with him before and I was just a fan. In the movie, my character is a guy who's intimidated by this award-winning actor and I felt the same way because he's one of the greats. He has this incredibly quick mind matched to a great sense of humour.”
In the movie, Robert's character plays a method actor who transforms himself into a black man for a role.
Although the scenes could potentially attract criticism, Ben insists film fans will appreciate the thinking behind the idea.
He told Total Film: “I'm sure people, once they see in context what we're doing with the movie, will embrace the whole idea of this actor who is so into character and the lengths that a method actor will go into.”
‘Tropic Thunder' is a comedy about a group of actors shooting a war movie on a deserted island that is attacked for real.
