When you see Taylor Lautner‘s name involved in some movie report, you logically expect to read something about the vampires.
But this time, that’s not going to happen, because Lautner is currently in negotiations to star opposite Adam Sandler, in the upcoming sequel Grown Ups 2.
If negotiations work out, he will join the cast which includes Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, David Spade, Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph and Maria Bello.
These are all familiar faces, the original cast from the first Grown Ups, and as for Lautner, according to the latest reports, he will make an appearance in a “fun” role, in which he goes toe-to-toe with Sandler.
Columbia Pictures is behind the project which will be once again directed by Dennis Dugan, while Sandler and Jack Giarraputo are going to produce it.
In case you forgot, the original movie followed five friends and former teammates who reunite years later to honor the passing of their childhood basketball coach. With their wives and kids in tow, they spend the Fourth of July holiday weekend together at the lake house where they celebrated their championship years earlier. Picking up where they left off, they discover why growing older doesn’t mean growing up.
The 2010 movie grossed $162 million domestically and $271 million worldwide and we have no reason to doubt in its sequel, especially if Lautner comes on board.
The sequel is set to open on July 12, 2013.
