Film lovers, prepare yourselves for an exciting treat to your eyes! There's now an international trailer out from Transmission Films for the awaited film adaptation of Anthony Quinn's novel Curtain Call titled “The Critic.” This movie has been showcased at the Toronto International Film Festival in the year 2023, and once you witness this masterpiece, you will not be able to keep the suspense and well-executed performance of the actors along with a captivating storyline in your seat.

The events of the play ‘The Critic' are set on the story of Jimmy Erskine who is an actor played by the famous Ian McKellan ; he portrays the most celebrated theatre critic in the age, writing for the Daily Chronicle. This is because David Brooke, played by Mark Strong, is among the new generation of owners of the paper, and he has a conflict with Erskine. In this subplot, a young actress Nina Land, played by Gemma Arterton, contemplates on her sorrow which stems from a review that Erskine wrote about her performance. In a moral puzzle, these characters get trapped into the game of blackmail and deception as their lives become entangled in a killer plot.

The forthcoming The Critic with Anand Tucker in the director's chair and Patrick Marber in the writing seat has all the potential to offer an engaging plot twist. Marie-Claire Benson of Lionsgate UK Motion Picture Group's EVP and Head praised the film saying, “The stunning performance of Ian McKellen and the combination of mystery and got the audiences on the edge of their seat kind of climax made it a truly thrilling watch.
The rest of climax is equally brilliant with Benjamin Barnes, Alfred Enoch, Romola Garai and Lesley Manville on board. With such a powerhouse lineup, it could prove to be quite breathtaking to watch and follow their performances.

True Brit Entertainment CEO Zygi Kamasa also spoke about the new endeavor with Lionsgate stating that “The Critic” is the company's very first distribution venture. He focused on the quality of the cast and probability of the effect it might produce on audience in United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.
The release date in North America has not been given yet but the international response to “The Critic” seems to be growing rapidly. As we await further news, one thing is certain: this picture is posed to be a strong contender for the list of memorable 2024 films. True Brit Ent. will debut The Critic in select UK cinemas starting on September 13th, 2024 later in the year.
Unfortunately, you can only watch a sneak peek of the mystery and suds-pense by viewing the trailer from the international version. This is not just any motion picture, and the experience of watching “The Critic” is not something that can easily fade into the background once the lights come up.
