Warner Bros. still believes that 48 frames-per-second technology is the way of cinematic future, as well as in
Peter Jackson that he can give a proper adaptation, so his newly announced third film in his trilogy of ambitious adapting
The Hobbit will be released July 18th, 2014.
However, the second film has been re-titled,
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, while the third instalment will now be called
The Hobbit: There and Back Again.
In summation:
•
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will open on December 14th, 2012.
• The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will open December 13th, 2013.
• The Hobbit: There and Back Again will open July 18th, 2014.
As you can easily make out there won't be a huge wait between the second and third film. Here's what WB President of Domestic Distribution Dan Fellman had to say:
We wanted to have a shorter gap between the second and third films. Opening in July affords us not only the perfect summer tentpole, but fans will have less time to wait for the finale of this epic adventure.
As your eyes will also tell you this will mark the first time that one of Jackson's adaptions of J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy classics isn't released during the winter holiday season.
Does it work for you?
