THERESE Images I'm sure you're already familiar with Therese (aka Therese Raquin), an upcoming tale of obsessive love, adultery, murder and revenge. Yes, we are talking about Charlie Stratton‘s drama which stars Elizabeth Olsen as a sexually repressed woman trapped into a loveless marriage to her sickly cousin. The good news is that we finally have the first clip and two official images from the whole thing to share, check it all out in the rest of this report… [jwplayer mediaid=”166808″] Based on Emile Zola's scandalous novel of the same name, the movie revolves around a young woman who is spending her days working behind the counter of the family's small shop with her husband's domineering mother, Madame Raquin. She is trapped in a loveless arranged marriage to her sickly cousin Camille, but all that will change when Camille brings home his charming and handsome childhood friend Laurent. THERESE Image 01 You already guess the rest of the story, right?
Therese is drawn in by his primitive sexuality and overwhelming presence. A secret and risky affair quickly evolves into an insatiable obsession, and Therese is finally alive. Dominated and controlled solely by their lust, they soon plot to remove the only obstacle to their freedom, the unsuspecting Camille. After a terrible “accident” takes Camille, Laurent quickly assumes his place as Therese's new husband and Madame's loving son. But guilt consumes the murderous pair, their desire unraveling into suspicion and mistrust while they torment each other with threats of confession. Watching as they spiral out of control, Madame comes to realize the horrific truth and Therese must finally face the tragic consequences of her own reckless passion.
Beside Olsen, the rest of Therese cast includes Tom Felton as Camille, Oscar Isaac as Laurent and Jessica Lange as Madame Raquin. The movie will premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival, which runs from September 5-15. As usual – click on these images to take a better look at Olsen and Isaac & make sure you stay tuned for more updates! THERESE Image 02
