Tom Cruise to Headline THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN Remake
MGM studio is going back to the vault again to develop a remake of John Sturges' 1960 Western The Magnificent Seven, which was itself a remake of the Akira Kurosawa's film The Seven Samurai from 1954.
None other than megastar Tom Cruise is planning to headline a band of American gunfighters hired by oppressed Mexican peasants to defend their homes from banditos.
To be honest with you, the actor has been interested in the project for quite some time. However, the project is not in Cruise's immediate future. The remake-friendly studio is quietly searching for a screenwriter, and does not have a director on board yet.
Putting it in other words, Cruise intends to take the lead once the remake finally does come to fruition, and probably he might surround himself by other A-list actors. Therefore, this news is used to generate some buzz.
Okey dokey, I'm on it.
And I just can't stop talking about Mr. Cruise, who is shooting Oblivion, right now followed by All You Need is Kill and in addition, he was attached to a new Van Helsing project focusing on his Les Grossman character, plus, this man is also wanted for the remake of A Star is Born and a Top Gun sequel.
C'mon, I wanna watch him! Next up is the upcoming Adam Shankman musical Rock of Ages (June 15), followed by the Christopher McQuarrie thriller One Shot (December 21).
