TRACKS Mia Wasikowska Hope you're ready for another drama based on a true story, 'cause we're here to present Tracks, from director John Curran, with Mia Wasikowska in the leading role. The movie is set to premiere at this year's Venice Film Festival, it will also be shown at Toronto International Film Festival, and as you're about to see – definitely looks like an interesting (but also a solitary) journey of self-discovery. TRACKS Image 01 Curran directed this Australian drama from a script written by Marion Nelson, and the movie is an adaptation of Robyn Davidson‘s memoir of the same name, which chronicles the author's nine-month journey on camels across the Australian desert. In other words, Wasikowska plays Robyn, a young woman goes on a 1,700 mile trek across the deserts of West Australia with her four camels and faithful dog. [jwplayer mediaid=”168279″] Here's more details:
Robyn spends two hardscrabble years in the Alice Springs area learning how to train and care for camels in order to prepare for her journey. Finally ready to embark with her animals, she realizes she is woefully underfunded and, despite her desires for self-sufficiency, accepts a fee from National Geographic in exchange for a written piece. The magazine adds a condition: she must allow photographer Rick Smolan to photograph her at selected stops along the way.
Tracks also stars Adam Driver as Rick Smolan, Emma Booth, Jessica Tovey and Melanie Zanetti, and as we said – it is scheduled to be shown at the 70th Venice International Film Festival in Official Competition. Doesn't look bad at all, hope you agree? TRACKS Image
