Johnny Depp was in talks to star in the film. The screenplay is written by newcomer

Andrew Kosove told
The Wrap:
It is true Johnny Depp's brain is uploaded into a computer.
Moreover, ‘three scientists — Max and the husband and wife team, Will and Evelyn — have been developing a programming code for the world's first fully self-aware computer.'
The project will also involve ideas regarding nanotechnology and artificial intelligence and ‘anti-technology terrorist' that tries to steal and destroy the supercomputer.
Depp will reportedly play one of the lead scientists, Will and the other two roles have not yet been cast.
However, Kosove told the site that
Noomi Rapace is not in the running for the female lead, but notes that
Ewan McGregor passed on an early draft and
Tom Hardy is busy with other projects as well as
Kate Winslet.
