Philip Groning‘s movie
The Police Officer's Wife is one of the titles that will compete for the Golden Lion at the
70th Venice Film Festival. The first official image from the whole thing shows a young couple and their cute little daughter. They sure look like one happy family. But, not so fast… Groning is actually here to tell us an unconventional story about domestic violence!
Groning directed this intense drama from a script he co-wrote with Carola Diekmann, and as we said at the beginning – the movie revolves around a young couple who leads a modest provincial existence with their small daughter.
You already know what that means – the husband is a policeman, a common middle-class civil servant, while the wife stays at home and cares for their little girl, an alert and curious child, always looking up inquisitively at her mother.
This beautiful, seemingly ordinary, family live a frugal life of simple joys. But it's only a matter of time before the conflicts within the family manifest themselves. A frugal life soon becomes a life of increasing violence measured by the dark bruises of the police officer's wife…
The Police Officer's Wife stars Alexandra Finder, David Zimmerschied, Pia Kleemann and Chiara Kleemann.
Hope we'll soon have a trailer to share, make sure you stay tuned!
