The Fast & Furious and Riddick star Vin Diesel hilariously can’t stop talking about upcoming films from Marvel Studios. After teasing his casting as Groot in 2014s Guardians of the Galaxy, actor revealed he has been involved in talks regarding one of the studio’s two unannounced Phase Three movies.
In an interview with Extra host Maria Menounos, Diesel mentioned a cryptic ‘merging of brands’ between himself and Marvel.
When I met with Marvel it wasn’t for anything immediate. It was to talk about a film that would be introduced in the Phase 3 part of Marvel, not for a few years. You wouldn’t be able to see it for a few years. In my mind, Marvel were doing it right, they were enrolling me at the ground level which is the best way to enrol me.
I get the call, I go down to Marvel. A great meeting. It was even talking about something so big I can’t even talk about because it’s like the merging of brands in a way, which I won’t get into. That was something way, way, way, way, way down the road.
Once again, let the speculation begin: Phase Three’s rumored mix of Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers to battle Thanos seems to fit his description of ‘merging brands’, unless of course, we take this cryptic phrase literally and Diesel appears in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Some sources also note that he has the physicality for the role of Black Panther.
