Warner Bros. Hire Gangster Squad Writer for JUSTICE LEAGUE
Every three months, the DC/Warner Bros. insistently claims that they are, right this minute, working on a Justice League movie. The fevered rumors will be demystified, and the Justice League film will sleep through winter again, until some fan digs up a ‘poster'.
They were just demanding something completely different from me this time – it's reported in Variety that Warner Bros. have already made a big creative step and is going on to hire Will Beall (Gangster Squad) for screenwriting duties based on the WB-controlled stable of DC Comics superheroes.
Therefore, Beall has actually been working in secret on the script for a little while, even when The Avengers was still in the production stage.
It's obvious Beall has become a favorite scribe of Warners as he's writing the studio's Lethal Weapon reboot and its remake of Logan's Run, which is expected to reteam Gangster Squad star Ryan Gosling with his Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn.
Of course, the studio has yet to comment on the hush-hush recruitment.
The initial plan for Justice League was to tap Adam Brody as the Flash, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman, D.J. Cotrona donning the red cape for Superman, Ryan Reynolds as The Green Lantern, and then-newcomer Armie Hammer as Batman, but back in 2008, the studio announced that the project was shut down in the face of budgetary issues.
Stay tuned.
