Warner Bros. Plans THE PLANET THIEVES

The Planet Thieves According to Deadline, Warner Bros. has plans to adapt Dan Krokos‘ upcoming young adult novel The Planet Thieves into a feature film. The book, scheduled to be published in 2013 by Tor/Starscape, is officially described as follows: When the crew of the SS Egypt (SS?? If anyone has read the book, please inform me as to what the “SS” in this case means) gets massacred by an alien race, Mason Stark, a thirteen-year-old cadet in the Earth Space Command, must lead his fellow cadets in a daring surprise attack to retake the ship, and recover a stolen technology that could end the planet Earth. Krokos wrote on his blog:
“I wanted to write a pure adventure story, something fun. What I came up with is slightly darker than what I was going for, but it’s still a work in progress. I got the idea when I imagined the bridge of a space ship manned only by cadets. Kids who knew what they were doing but lacked the experience of battle. I asked myself why that would happen, and went from there.”
Bendersprink and Heyday Films will produce the adaptation with Pouya Shahbazian. This sounds interesting enough, so stay tuned for updates!
