Modern neorealist director Ramin Bahrani returned to Venice for the third time with a family drama At Any Price set in the competitive world of modern agriculture.
Dennis Quaid and Zac Efron headline the story about the scion of a farming empire who goes against his father’s wishes when he pursues his dream of becoming an NASCAR racer.
A government investigation into the family business shakes up everything. Quaid of course plays his father – an Iowa corn farmer and is truly the center of the film.
After Telluride this weekend, a good old-fashioned melodrama will head to TIFF, but no release date yet.
Newcomer Maika Monroe wrapped the role as Efron’s on-screen girlfriend in At Any Price, which the pair were promoting today at a photo-call at the Palazzo del Casino.
Also check out the first glimpse which is pretty solid all around, with the tension and unease already being felt between father and son.
