42 star Chadwick Boseman has really become an actor with a specialty in playing famous African-Americans.
Boseman has nabbed the role of James Brown in the upcoming biopic on the ‘godfather of soul’ after he shone playing the role of Jackie Robinson.
Tate Taylor (The Help) is directing from a script provided by Jez and John-Henry Butterworth (Fair Game) and is also producing along with Brian Grazer and Erica Huggins; Mick Jagger and Victoria Pearman are co-producing.
A few members from The Help cast—Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Nelsan Ellis— are all reportedly being considered for supporting roles in the film.
The upcoming movie will chart Brown’s rise from extreme poverty in Georgia to becoming a world famous and highly influential musician in the 60s and 70s.
The project at one point had Eddie Murphy and Wesley Snipes attached to star, while Spike Lee was previously linked to direct.
Currently unnamed biopic from Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment is slated to begin shooting this fall in Mississippi.
Boseman will next be seen in another sports drama Draft Day, starring Kevin Costner.
