Robert De Niro On Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, Scott Rudin to Produce Scorsese’s Sinatra

Martin Scorsese is very busy director, and we already know that he has a lot of interesting projects on his mind – after Hugo Cabret he’ll make Silence, and there’s also a possibility for him to make an indie version of The Wolf of Wall Street.

But we also reported that one of the possible projects is The Irishman, movie that will have some great cast – Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci. But is this really going to happen?

If you ask De Niro, the answer is: “Yeah, I’m planning on it, absolutely. Well, this time I’ll say it, I’ve said it before, its a movie based on a book called, ‘I Heard You Paint Houses,’ its about a guy who says, and I believe [the author of] the book – he’s passed away now – but he confessed that he killed [Jimmy] Hoffa and also Joe Gallo.

And so I’m gonna play that character. Joe Pesci is gonna be in it, Al Pacino is gonna be in it and Marty’s going to direct it.”

Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman Starring Robert De Niro Could Shoot in 2011

Yeah, you read that correctly, Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro are reuniting for the first time since 1995 crime classic Casino!

At first, that was just another Hollywood rumor, but now it’s a fact, because legendary director has just confirmed they are all set to start shooting a project titled The Irishman in 2011.

The film will focus on Frank ‘The Irishman’ Sheeran, who is reputed to have carried out more than 25 mob murders.

The movie is based on a book called I Heard You Paint Houses, which refers to mob slang for contract killings, and the resulting blood splatter on walls and floors.

It’s really interesting how Martin Scorsese just keeps impressing us all with his new plans. That’s exactly what we wrote, guys, we’re just talking about his plans for the future. But, we’re sure that you’ll be thrilled when you hear the latest news!

The Irishman may not be a priority among Scorsese’s upcoming projects, but we’re sure it will continue to attract attention as the long awaited project which will reunite Robert De Niro with Scorsese!

Ok, you could now say – it’s just a rumor. But what kind of rumor, when Scorsese confirmed it back in February by saying:

“There’s no doubt about that. We’re working on something like that, but it’s from the vantage point of older men looking back, none of this running around stuff.”, and now we had a chance to hear the same thing  from Robert De Niro, hm?

The IrishmanMovieSet has just released the first-ever behind-the-scenes footage and stills from the set of  crime drama “The Irishman” starring Ray Stevenson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Val Kilmer and Christopher Walken.

“The Irishman” chronicles the rise and fall of infamous Cleveland gangster Danny Greene (Ray Stevenson), who engaged in a power struggle with the Italian mob. Greene was as an upstart longshoreman union rep and later became a cocky, legendarily difficult-to-kill troublemaker in the world of organized crime in the 1970′s. Based on the real story of mobster Danny Greene, Christoper Walken will play the loan shark and nightclub owner Shondor Birns and Val Kilmer is a Cleveland police detective who befriends Greene.
