  • “Deadpool & Wolverine”: $637 million
  • “Moana 2”: $409 million

Universal and Warner Bros.: Hits and Misses

Universal Pictures secured second place with $1.74 billion, a modest 4% dip from the previous year. Highlights included:

  • “Wicked”: $433 million
  • “Despicable Me 4”: $361 million
  • “Twisters”: $268 million

In contrast, Warner Bros. faced challenges, seeing an 18% decline to $1.16 billion. While “Dune: Part Two” ($282 million) and “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” ($294 million) impressed, other releases failed to perform as expected.

Surprises from Sony and Paramount

Sony Pictures nearly held steady with a slight 1.6% decline, grossing $954.5 million. Paramount, however, saw an 8.5% increase, thanks to hits like:

  • “Gladiator II”: $165 million
  • “Sonic the Hedgehog 3”: $152 million

Independent and Specialty Studios: A Banner Year

Smaller studios experienced a renaissance, driven by the growing appetite for diverse, unique narratives. Highlights include:

  • A24: Up 47%
  • Searchlight Pictures: Up 172%
  • NEON: Up 478%
  • MUBI: An astonishing 1066% increase
