Morgan Freeman, Diane Keaton Star In LIFE ITSELF

Nick Martin May 20, 2013 Add a Comment
Morgan Freeman, Diane Keaton Academy Award winner Diane Keaton will star with Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman for the first time on screen in a new dramedy Life Itself based on the Jill Ciment novel ‘Heroic Measures.' The heartwarming comedy will be directed by an award winning British director of television (The Gathering Storm) and film (Richard III), Richard Loncraine. The screenplay was written by Charlie Peters (My One and Only). Freeman and Keaton will play Alex and Ruth, a married couple in New York City who are forced to move from the downtown apartment they've lived most of their lies after a real estate bidding war. Myriad Pictures is acquiring international rights to the comedy Life Itself. Myriad's Kirk D'Amico said:
We are happy to be working with Morgan and Lori again (Myriad previously handled international sales for 10 Items Or Less) and of course the extraordinary Diane Keaton on this clever and timely comedy set in the world of New York real estate and art. We know that Richard Loncraine will do a great job directing this insightful script by Charlie Peters.
Freeman can currently be seen in the sci-fi thriller Oblivion and will next be seen in Summit's Now You See Me, while Keaton is on screens in The Big Wedding with Robert De Niro. Book description:
New York City is on high alert–a gasoline truck is “stuck” in the Midtown tunnel and the driver has fled. Through panic and gridlock, Alex and Ruth must transport their beloved old dachshund–whose back legs are suddenly paralyzed–to the animal hospital, using a cutting board as a stretcher. But this is also the weekend when Alex and Ruth must sell the apartment in which they have lived for most of their adult lives. Over the course of forty-eight hours, as the mystery of the missing truck driver terrorizes the city and the dachshund's life hangs in the balance, the bidding war over their apartment becomes a barometer for collective hope and despair. Told in shifting points of view–Alex's, Ruth's, and the little dog's–“Heroic Measures” is a moving, deft novel about urban anxiety and the love that deepens over years.
