BREATHE IN Image 01 We finally get our first look at footage in the form of a teaser trailer for Drake Doremus‘ (Like Crazy) family drama Breathe In, which stars Guy Pearce, Felicity Jones and Amy Ryan in the leading roles. The movie premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival to receive nothing more than positive feedback, but has yet to receive a release date in the US. Breathe In recently opened the 67th Edinburgh International Film Festival. A quietly powerful drama reunites filmmaker with his Like Crazy star Jones in a story about dramatic stuff that happens when you're listening to the elegant and hushed beauty of Dustin O'Halloran's music. Director said in a recent interview to Seensome.com,
I made a movie with Felicity (Jones) a little bit before this movie and really wanted to work with her again and Dustin O'Halloran, our composer, listening to his music thinking of ideas and different things. Really the tone and texture of the world, everything kind of stemmed from Dustin's sort of tone and what he was writing at the time… A lot of the pieces in the movie were written before the movie was made and a lot of the plot was kind of custom tailored to the score actually.
Co-penned by Ben York Jones and Doremus, the film centers on a foreign exchange student who arrives in a small upstate New York town, challenges the dynamics of her host family's relationships and alters their lives forever. Watch the trailer for the new drama which opens in the UK on July 19th, 2013 with an Autumn release planned for the US.
A British exchange student disrupts the family dynamics of an American household in this domestic drama from director Drake Doremus (Douchebag, Like Crazy). Before he taught music, cellist Keith Reynolds was just another struggling musician trying to make it in New York City. Years later, Keith has settled down with his wife Megan. As their daughter Lauren prepares for her senior year of high school, Keith begins to grow increasingly nostalgic about his bohemian youth. Meanwhile, the occasional gig as a substitute cellist for an esteemed Manhattan symphony a much -welcomed reprieve from his predictable life as a family man. But when Megan decides to host British high school senior Sophie as an exchange student, the wistful musician finds the impulsive nature that he has so successfully repressed once again bubbling to the surface, where nothing is nearly as placid as it appears.
