Natalie Portman Teases Marvel`s Female Superhero Movie Is Coming

In a recent interview with SciFiNow, the Thor: The Dark World actress Natalie Portman, hinted that a female-led Marvel Studios superhero movie is coming sooner rather than later.

The Oscar-winning actress dropped the intriguing detail while promoting Thor sequel:

There are definitely many strong women, but it will be exciting when there is a central female character which I think is coming – I have heard is coming – and, of course, also a central non-white character will also be exciting. Title characters.

Furthermore, she points out, the studio has some damn good female supporting roles:

But they do definitely have strong female characters in them, and I think it's a testament to the people who run Marvel, their respect, their just normal human respect for women, the way they want to characterize them; you can tell when men talk to you, as just a person or as a “woman.”

The actress who seems far more excited about the possibility of a superheroine movie than Marvel executive producer Stan Lee does, didn't say if she would be involved in it. Lee suggested that female protagonists wouldn't work because comic book movies were aimed at males.

The 90-year-old Marvel Comics founder also added:

Well, probably at one time, they'll make a movie of the Black Widow. I'm sure of it. But you see, the thing is, the women like these movies as much as the guys. So we don't have to knock ourselves out to find a female. But we will.

Thor: The Dark World opens on November 8th, 2013, followed by Captain America: The Winter Soldier on April 4th, 2014; Guardians of the Galaxy on August 1st, 2014, The Avengers: Age of Ultron on May 1st, 2015, Ant-Man on July 31st, 2015, and unannounced projects lined up for May 6th, 2016, July 8th, 2016 and May 5th, 2017.
