“Friday the 13th” Poster and Trailer Debut (Comic-Con 2008)

“Friday the 13th” Poster

The upcoming “Friday the 13th” remake has a teaser poster hanging at Comic-Con and while we have already seen several photos of the artwork, we now have the poster in good quality. Producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller took the stage in Ballroom 20 of the San Diego Convention Center on Sunday to give us all a sneak peak in their Friday the 13th Reboot… – The producers tell the crowd that this is their first time at Comic-Con and have always wanted to make a movie and take it to the convention. – They wrapped the movie about a month ago and were originally planning to show photos from the film and a poster. – The official teaser poster is unveiled to a giant cheer. – The trailer is shown and the audience goes nuts for the last shot of a Jason Vorhess furiously charging someone with his ax and striking down hard. Other tidbits revealed about the return of Jason: – The film stands on its own. – Form and Fuller would love to do a Freddy Vs. Jason reimagining with Wes Craven involved. – Jason’s supernatural elements are NOT in this film and the character is 100% grounded in reality. – The film is based on the best elements from Parts 2-4. – Like part 1, it’s based in Crystal Lake. – Unlike part 1, Jason is the killer, not his mother. – We’d love to do a sequel to this film. Right now we’re working on a remake of “The Birds” as well as attempting to make a deal to remake “Nightmare on Elm Street.” The crowd, for some unexplained reason, applauds. – There are no cameos from previous Friday the 13th cast members as they felt it would take the audience out of the movie. – We’ll see a smarter Jason that will set people up. Yet he will also be sympathetic. – Although this is not an origin movie, we do explore Jason’s past briefly in the film. – Derek Mears, who plays Jason in the remake, summed it all up best: “This is a whole new level of scare. It’s raw.” “Friday the 13th” trailer: [flv]http://bitcast-a.bitgravity.com/firstshowing/fridaythe13th-comiccon.flv[/flv] Friday the 13th is directed by ex-music video director Marcus Nispel, of 2003’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Pathfinder previously. The screenplay for this reboot was penned by writing partners Damian Shannon and Mark Swift of Freddy vs Jason previously. Although this Friday the 13th is not a sequel, it is technically the 11th film in the franchise and follows Jason’s last apperance in Freddy vs Jason in 2003. Friday the 13th is currently set to open on Friday, February 13th, 2009.
