All-Star Cast in First DARLING COMPANION Trailer

Darling Companion

I told you yesterday that writer/director Larry Kasdan was ready to boil Harlan Coban’s upcoming fiction novel Stay Close to its core. But his latest feature, Darling Companion is pretty far from the Hitchockian thriller that was said to be his future project. Never mind, it is more in the vein of Marley and Me, or Something’s Gotta Give, but with the all-stars cast my parents will love. Oscar-nominated screenwriter directed the dramedy from a script he co-wrote with his wife Meg Kasdan, which star two Academy Award nominees (Richard Jenkins and Sam Shepard) and three Academy Award winners (Diane Keaton, Dianne Wiest and Kevin Kline), as well as promising younger thesps like Elisabeth Moss and Mark Duplass. No doubt, Kasdan brings his career back from the brink as his last 2003 film Dreamcatcher deserves a place in the Razzies Hall of Fame, despite the fact that he took a risk relying on older actors to restore his fortunes. The movie screenplay, with cliched dialogue is about a dissatisfied older woman Beth (Keaton) that loves her rescued dog more than her husband Joseph (Kline), but when her self-absorbed husband loses the dog, she enlists the help of a group of party guests to help her find her dog. ‘Each member of the search party is affected by the adventure, which takes them in unexpected directions – comic, harrowing, and sometimes deeply emotional. ‘ Darling Companion, opens in limited U.S. theaters on April 20th, 2012. The first trailer for the film has arrived online, which you can check it out in the player below.
