Avengers’ Cobie Smulders Joins DreamWorks’ STARBUCK

Nick Martin August 27, 2012 Add a Comment
Cobie Smulders Marvel's The Avengers star Cobie Smulders has signed to play the female lead in Starbuck, a DreamWorks' English-language remake of the 2011 Canadian comedy hit, the most successful Quebec-made movie within the province. Ken Stott, who wrote and directed the original Starbuck, is returning to direct from his own script. Story follows a middle-aged man David Wozniak (Vince Vaughn) whose life is turned upside down when discovered that, as a sperm donor, he has fathered 533 children. When a few hundred of the children express an irrepressible need to meet their father, he must decide whether or not he will step up and reveal his identity. S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill aka Cobie Smulders is in talks to co-star as Vaughn's pregnant girlfriend who has no idea the Vaughn is the man behind the myth, while Parks and Recreation's Chris Pratt is set to play Vaughn's lawyer who has a large brood of his own at home. Production is scheduled to start later this year. As the star of CBS' hit comedy How I Met Your Mother Smulders is no stranger to comedy; additionally, she recently wrapped Lasse Hallstrom's Safe Haven as well as David Wain's comedy They Came Together.
