Here's something interesting:
Bill Murray is set to star in
Barry Levinson's upcoming comedy
Rock the Kasbah! What's so interesting about this project? Well, maybe the fact that Murray comes on board to play a burned out music manager who goes to Afghanistan on the USO tour with his last remaining client. Head inside to find more details about the whole thing…
So, at this moment we know that Levinson will direct the project from a script written by
Mitch Glazer, which follows the above mentioned burned-out music manager who finds himself abandoned, penniless and without his passport.
In Afghanistan!
There, he discovers a young girl with an extraordinary voice, whom he sneaks back to Kabul to compete on the popular television show,
The Afghan Star, Afghanistan's equivalent of
American Idol.
QED's
Bill Block, Venture Forth's
Jacob Pechenik and Shangri-La Entertainment's
Steve Bing will produce the project, which QED will introduce at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival.
And, according to Block, Murray and Levinson are the perfect team to capture the lunacy, heartbreak and hope of this story.
We agree, so we're definitely ready for more updates!
Make sure you stay tuned!
