Comedian
Bill Murray has confirmed that he will the cast of
Ghostbusters 3 alongside
Dan Aykroyd,
Ernie Hudson and
Harold Ramis.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Murray revealed that killing off his character Peter Venkman was his own suggestion.
“I'll come back in Ghostbusters 3 only if I get to be a ghost,”
Murray commented.
“I said to them, ‘I'll do it if you kill me off in the first reel'. So now they are going to have me as a ghost in the film.”
He added:
“The first 45 minutes of the original Ghostbusters is some of the funniest stuff ever made.” The second one was disappointing, because the special effects guys took over. I had something like two scenes – and they're the only funny ones in the movie.”
Sony's Columbia Pictures has recruited
Lee Eisneberg and
Gene Stupnitsky (The Office writer-producers) to work on a new installment.
Ghostbusters 3 is once again directed by
Ivan Reitman and currently is scheduled for a 2012 release.
