Brit Marling, The Company You Keep

Brit Marling, the breakout star at this year's Sundance Film Festival is in talks with Robert Redford for the female lead in his forthcoming political thriller The Company You Keep. First announced last month, Shia LaBeouf will portray an Albany-based reporter who discovers Jason Sinai, a former Weather Underground member (Redford) who was also an FBI's stool pigeon that has been living and hiding for 30 years. Well, you know, Redford must make a run for it. But, The Company You Keep is a far-reaching American saga about the conflict between political convictions and family loyalties, too. The Neil Gordon's novel is being adapted by Lem Dobbs (Dark City). With Nick Nolte also on board to star, Redford will begin filming The Company You Keep this September. Marling and Mike Cahill's riveting sci-fi drama Another Earth is now in cinemas and Marling will soon topline Sound of My Voice, both of which she also co-wrote. The actress, producer and writer, Marling recently explained the idea of doppelgangers in Another Earth:
I think that sort of haunts everybody, the idea that there's this double of themselves out there somewhere. We wanted to make it literal in a story, where the discovery of this other planet in the sky became like a visual representation of those feelings.”
Besides, Marling is also considering an offer from Steven Soderbergh, where she would star in stripper film Magic Mike as well as Christopher McQuarrie also wants her to star opposite Tom Cruise in One Shot adaptation. I hope that Marling will seize this opportunity to work alongside Redford and Shia LaBeouf. How about you? Check out a Sundance Film Festival interview with Brit Marling on Another Earth.
