Headhunters – Trailer
Confirmed: Scorsese to Adapt Nesbo’s The Snowman
British production company Working Title Films, which all films are distributed by Universal Pictures as of 2007 and was outfit behind this year's incredible Tinker Tailor Solider Spy, have confirmed that The Departed's Martin Scorsese will direct the feature film adaptation of The Snowman, a novel by Norwegian author Jo Nesbo.
So, Norway's star crime novelist has given his favorite director Scorsese the green light to take his novel of suspense to the big screen, after many production companies had contacted the author about the film rights.
The author of The Snowman, one of the best fiction novels 2011, said Scorsese was his first choice to direct and will not involve himself with any minute aspect of the production, even refusing to say who he would like to see play Harry Hole.
Furthermore, Nesbo's seventh novel in his Oslo detective Harry Hole series will be turned into a screenplay by World War Z's Matthew Michael Carnahan.
Iit sounds like a project that returns Scorsese to the world of pulp crime thriller that he is synonymous with. His first film for children Hugo Cabret opens in the U.S. in just two days time.
An adaptation of another Nesbo's novel titled Headhunters has become one of the most successful Norwegian films of all time. I hope the same will happen with the first English adaptation, The Snowman. The story follows anti-sobriety cop, which is almost the same description for any screen detective, who solves some gruesome and complex murders.
Check out the trailer for Headhunters – the film isn't deep or consequential, but it is a lot of fun as a crime caper where everyone is linked and the only thing that really matters is love. Stay tuned for future updates.
