It's a great story, very human story… It's going to be focused on this relationship between the agent and the players. It starts out as this contest, but then this guy moves in with them. They become part of his life, which is pretty funny.No word yet on when this might roll. Gillespie previously directed Mr. Woodcock and DreamWorks' Fright Night remake, most recently has been developing Will Ferrell starrer Flamingo Thief. Craig Gillespie In Talks To Direct MILLION DOLLAR ARM
The news broke in May that Mad Men's Jon Hamm was set for his next big screen role in Disney's Million Dollar Arm. Now comes word that Lars and the Real Girl helmer Craig Gillespie is in talks to direct Disney's sports drama in which Hamm stars.
Golden Globe-winner Hamm will be the man behind the talent, playing sports agent J.B. Bernstein who discovered professional pitchers Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel through a reality show he staged in India with cricket players. His work paid off when the duo became the first Indian players to sign with pro baseball teams when they got contracts with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Based on a true story the script was penned by Tom McCarthy (Win Win, The Visitor) who shared a bit more on the story last year:
