A Dark Journey into the UnknownA Masterpiece of Modern Horror

Premiering earlier this year at the 2024 Berlin Film Festival and later at SXSW, ‘Cuckoo' has already garnered significant attention. The film, shot on 35mm, boasts an impressive cast led by ‘Euphoria's' Hunter Schafer and the always captivating Dan Stevens. Also featured are Jessica Henwick, Marton Csókás, Jan Bluthardt, Greta Fernández, Konrad Singer, Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey, and Proschat Madani, all of whom deliver standout performances that enhance the film's eerie ambiance.

A Dark Journey into the Unknown

‘Cuckoo' tells the story of 17-year-old Gretchen, who reluctantly leaves her American home to live with her father and his new family at a resort in the German Alps. Upon arrival, they are greeted by Mr. König, Gretchen's father's boss, who shows an unsettling interest in Gretchen's mute half-sister, Alma. As Gretchen navigates her new surroundings, she is haunted by strange noises and bloody visions, leading her to uncover dark secrets tied to the resort and her own family.

A Masterpiece of Modern Horror

Singer's mastery in creating an atmospheric horror experience is evident throughout ‘Cuckoo.' The film's use of 35mm cinematography adds a layer of authenticity and visual appeal that enhances the unsettling mood. The narrative is rich with twists and turns, drawing viewers into a world of conspiracy and bizarre experiments that have echoed through generations.

Produced by Markus Halberschmidt, Josh Rosenbaum, Maria Tsigka, Ken Kao, and Thor Bradwell, ‘Cuckoo' stands as a testament to collaborative filmmaking at its finest. The film is slated for a nationwide release by Neon on August 9th, 2024, promising a summer scare that horror enthusiasts won't soon forget.

Whether you're a die-hard horror fan or new to the genre, ‘Cuckoo' offers a compelling blend of suspense, mystery, and psychological thrills. Mark your calendars and prepare for an unforgettable journey into the heart of darkness.
