David O. Russell Out of Drake’s Fortune
David O. Russell won't be directing Drake's Fortune, the adaptation of the video game Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.
And, according to the reports, there won't be a movie version of this hit video game next year after all. For all of you out there disappointed by this news, here's more details about this decision.
Guys from LA Times report that “Sony-owned Columbia Pictures, the movie's producers and Russell were unable to reach terms satisfactory to all parties, and now the studio has to start looking for directing talent once again, while also searching for lead actors.
With the male and female co-leads, it's essentially a two-hander, so expect the casting process to be involved.”
Let us also remind you that a script for the movie is already in place, written by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer (Sahara, the new Conan the Barbarian).
Russell is currently set to direct Old St. Louis starring Vince Vaughn, Chloe Moretz, Scarlett Johansson and an adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies with Natalie Portman.
His next film, The Fighter with Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg hits theaters December 10, 2010.
