Debra Granik to Write and Direct Adaptation of RULE OF THE BONE

Debra Granik, Rule of the Bone Here’s something interesting. Ok, it’s another adaptation but this sounds great, especially because Debra Granik, Winter’s Bone helmer will be in charge both as writer and director. So, we’re here to start a little chat about Granik’s adaptation of Russell Banks‘ novel Rule of the Bone. At this moment we know that the movie will center on a 14-year-old Jamaican-American Chapman aka Bone, who is by the way drug dealer living in upstate New York with his mother and an abusive stepfather. Guess that’s enough for our hero to go to Jamaica to track down his real father. What also sounds good is that Banks is on board as an executive producer who previously revealed: “We’re probably going to cast an unknown in the lead and then cast around him. When we get Bone cast, then we’ll work around him and have better-known actors, recognizable faces around him. We’ll be shooting it in Upstate New York and Jamaica.” So, anyone interested in this one? Let us know what you think and stay tuned for more updates on Rule of the Bone!
