Denzel Washington is a very busy man these days. Not only he has that
Robert Zemeckis‘
Flight thing on his schedule, but he's all of the sudden attached to star in a remake of the Oscar winning Argentinian film titled
The Secret In Their Eyes (El secreto de sus ojos).
I know, I know, I was surprised as well. For those of you with fresh memory,
Juan Jose Campanella was in charge for the original project, with
Ricardo Darin in the leading role.
Now, it looks that we'll have director
Billy Ray on board both as screenwriter and director, with Washington as the lead.
Doesn't sound so bad… Or, maybe this kind of project requires a little bit – different team? Don't shoot, I'm just thinking out loud!
Anyway, The Secret In Their Eyes follows Benjamin Esposito, a retired legal counselor writes a novel hoping to find closure for one of his past unresolved homicide cases and for his unreciprocated love with his superior – both of which still haunt him decades later.
Warner Bros is behind the whole thing, and I still have a feeling they will make a mistake with this one. Simply because I have a problem to imagine Washington in this kind of role. Somehow, he's not the perfect guy for this story, that's all.
But let's wait and see.
