Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos is quite busy guy these days. And in case you have any doubts about his future projects, we’re here to report that Dogtooth helmer all of the sudden plans not one, not two, but – three English-language projects!
And that, my friends, is one hell of the news especially for all of us who respond with “go to hell” when someone says to us “s’agapo”.
So, here’s the thing. Lanthimos recently spoke with guys from IndieWire, and revealed that he has three English-language scripts in the works. Two original, one a potential work for hire, and apparently – they’re all going to be very different.
When it comes to the first one, Lanthimos said that he will re-team with his Dogtooth and Alps co-writer Efthymis Filippou, and that it will be a tale in the vein of their previous collaborations.
Still, he promised that it will be “bigger” project with “a fantasy/science fiction element to it.”
The second project is something described as a ‘British period film’ he was offered to direct, while the third is a book adaptation.
And for the end of this report – a few words about that “busy” part from the beginning. Lanthimos added:
“I want to do something creative and not just deal with the practicalities of making the films”, which basically means he will shoot a short film in Greece before going to camera with one of those projects we mentioned above.
Anyone interested in Lanthimos’ work?
