According to the director and writer from the 1994 buddy comedy hit
Dumb and Dumber,
Bobby Farrelly, after twenty years, Harry and Lloyd are ‘still basically children at heart,' and moreover, one of the dim-witted duo could be a dad in the upcoming sequel.
Btw, did we mention that
Jim Carrey got upset that Warner Bros wasn't taking the sequel seriously, so he abandoned, but after calming down, it was confirmed that he was once again on board.
Farrelly went on to say Digital Spy,
there is no growth out of either one of them and it's 20 years later… these guys are in regular life and they're still basically children at heart.
He also states that either Carrey or
Jeff Daniels' character may have fathered a child because one of them needs a kidney transplant, and want the child to donate their kidney.
In 2003, a prequel was released to theaters, entitled Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd, but without the creative involvement of the Farrellys (Bobby and
Peter).
The plan is to begin shooting
Dumb and Dumber 2 in the spring for an autumn 2013 release.
Bobby confirmed:
That's the plan and that will be our next movie, we've already written the script. We're very anxious to get back in business with those two guys.
