The series, set to debut on Max this fall, takes place 10,000 years before the events of the Dune movies and follows the journey of two Harkonnen sisters as they confront forces that endanger the future of humanity. It's based on the novel “Sisterhood of Dune” by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson and promises to delve into the pivotal events that shaped the enigmatic Bene Gesserit sisterhood.
The trailer features Emily Watson as Mother Superior Valya Harkonnen, who shares, “Before the world came to know us as the Bene Gesserit, we established a sisterhood. Assigned to the great houses to help them discern truth from falsehood, we built a network of influence throughout the Imperium. But power comes with a cost.”
The impressive ensemble cast also includes Jessica Barden, Olivia Williams, Tabu, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, and Shalom Brune-Franklin.
Alison Schapker, known for her work on “Fringe,” serves as showrunner and executive producer for this Max and Legendary Television production, with Diane Ademu-John co-developing the series. Anna Foerster (“Outlander”) executive produced and directed multiple episodes, including the pilot.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting this series ever since the success of Denis Villeneuve's Dune movies, and it looks like it's going to be worth the wait. The trailer promises stunning visuals, intense drama, and a deeper dive into the rich world of Dune.
With its talented cast, experienced crew, and intriguing premise, ‘Dune: Prophecy' is shaping up to be a must-watch for any Dune fan or lover of epic science fiction. Mark your calendars for this fall, because the Dune universe is about to get even bigger and better.
