Eat, Pray, Love Trailer
Today we have the first trailer for the upcoming Julia Roberts drama Eat, Pray, Love.
Eat, Pray, Love is based on the best-selling memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert, published back in February of 2006, about one woman's year-long journey around the world and into her soul.
By the time Elizabeth Gilbert turned thirty she had everything an educated, ambitious American woman was supposed to want — a husband, a house, a successful career. But instead of feeling happy and fulfilled, she was consumed with panic, grief, and confusion. She went through a divorce, a crushing depression, another failed love, and the eradication of everything she ever thought she was supposed to be. To recover from all this, Gilbert took a radical step. In order to give herself the time and space to find out who she really was and what she really wanted, she got rid of her belongings, quit her job, and undertook a yearlong journey around the world — all alone.
Julia Roberts as Elizabeth Gilbert in Eat, Pray, Love
Eat, Pray, Love is the absorbing chronicle of that year. Her aim was to visit three places where she could examine one aspect of her own nature set against the backdrop of a culture that has traditionally done that one thing very well. In Rome, she studied the art of pleasure, learning to speak Italian and gaining the twenty-three happiest pounds of her life. India was for the art of devotion, and with the help of a native guru and a surprisingly wise cowboy from Texas, she embarked on four uninterrupted months of spiritual exploration. In Bali, she studied the art of balance between worldly enjoyment and divine transcendence. She became the pupil of an elderly medicine man and also fell in love the best way — unexpectedly.”
The film version is directed by Ryan Murphy, creator of Nip/Tuck, and represents his second attempt at making a film based on a nonfiction bestseller. His first, Running With Scissors, was a mediocre flick based on the memoir by Augusten Burroughs, so here's hoping the second time's the charm.
Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner produce a film starring Pretty Womanand Erin Brockovich beauty Julia Roberts.
Along with Roberts the film also stars Javier Bardem, James Franco, Billy Crudup, Richard Jenkins and Viola Davis.
Eat, Pray, Love is scheduled to hit theaters on August 13, 2010.

Thanks for the terrific article. The photos you posted really embrace the crux of the story. “Eat, Pray, Love” is about a woman who thought she knew what would bring her happiness. Unfortunately, she was disappointed. The author took off on an adventure to Italy, India, and Indonesia, after a painful divorce, to heal and get perspective. I too traveled extensively to the same locales searching for some kind of deeper knowledge. I feel as if Ms. Gilbert wrote the book for me, and it’s really up to me to appreciate and enjoy the ride with her. I am really looking forward to the movie. I learned so much from her experience: I’ve learned to do what makes me smile. I feel grateful and thankful for having read this book.
A lovely companion book to Eat, Pray, Love is “Little Gifts of Sustainable Contentment,” By: C. J. Good. One minute daily reflections for cultivating mental, emotional, physical and financial well-being. A wonderful book to have in your purse when traveling abroad.
Passionate and insightful, fresh and spiritual. Celebrates the incredible joys of the human experience. Many writers try to capture life’s universals… but C.J. Good truly succeeds in what is destined to become an indispensable resource in the self-help category. The writing is wonderful, and the fusion of good advice, thought-provoking ideas and human experience makes it a winner. Tobi Y. Ching (UK)
