The first official trailer for
Ivan Reitman‘s upcoming romantic comedy
No Strings Attached, starring
Natalie Portman and
Ashton Kutcher, is online.
In the film, Portman and Kutcher's characters are best friends who decide to embark on a relationship of casual sex. Their friends with benefits plan gets a little complicated when one of them starts to fall in love with the other and yearns for a real relationship.
Kutcher stated that this role is more mature than other characters he's done similar to this in past movies:
“I've done a lot of these kinds of movies, but this one is a little bit more grown-up. It looks at whether leaving feelings out of it actually works. For a new breed of woman, career comes first, and that has changed the nature of relationships. We should have just called the movie ‘Clooney.' That's the kind of relationship George Clooney has had for the past 20 years. He seems happy.”
Director Ivan Reitman said that the movie speaks to the kinds of sexual relationships young people have today:
“I noticed from my own kids that with this generation in particular, young people find it easier to have a sexual relationship than an emotional one. That is how the sexes deal with each other today.”
The film co-stars
Olivia Thirlby, Greta Gerwig, Kevin Kline and
Cary Elwes.
No Strings Attached comes to theaters January 21st, 2011.
