The film world is abuzz with excitement as anticipation builds for the return of George Miller to the Wasteland with the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. The trailers have already given a glimpse of the signature vehicular warfare that Miller is renowned for, with Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth in the driver's seats.

While there has yet to be an official announcement, rumors are swirling that the film will have a runtime of 2 hours and 28 minutes. This is a bold move, given that the average runtime for a Hollywood blockbuster is around 2 hours. However, if anyone can pull it off, it's Miller, who has already proven his ability to churn out action-packed thrill rides that rival those of his younger peers.

The film's runtime isn't the only thing that has fans talking. According to reports, nearly six minutes of preview footage may be attached to certain films prior to Furiosa's release. This is an unconventional move, but it's one that could help build even more excitement for the film.

Of course, with a runtime of over 2 hours, there's bound to be some epic action sequences. According to George Miller's producing partner, Doug Mitchel, there's one 15-minute sequence in particular that took 78 days to shoot. Known as Stairway to Nowhere, this sequence is said to mark a turning point for Furiosa and showcase her resourcefulness and grit.

Furiosa star Anya Taylor-Joy has also spoken about the challenges of filming such a long sequence. She noted that it was the longest sequence she had ever shot and that it required a lot of investment and dedication from the cast and crew. However, she also noted that the work wasn't what was exhausting, but rather the type of work it was and how invested she was in it.

The official synopsis for Furiosa:

A Mad Max Saga sets the stage for an epic adventure. It reads, “As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a warlord”. From there, it's a race against time as Furiosa fights to reclaim her freedom and find her place in the Wasteland.

As fans gear up for the release of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, there are sure to be plenty of questions and theories about what's in store. Will the film live up to the hype? Will the long runtime be a hindrance or a help? And what other surprises does Miller have in store for fans?

What do you think about the rumored runtime for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga? Are you excited to see Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth in the Wasteland? And what are your predictions for the film's plot and action sequences? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
