NBC’s Community star Gillian Jacobs joined the all-star cast of The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, which features fellow TV-performers-turned-superstars Steve Carell and Jim Carrey as dueling magicians, but also features Olivia Wilde, Steve Buscemi, James Gandolfini, Alan Arkin and Brad Garrett.
John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (Horrible Bosses) wrote the script.
Jacobs is set to play ‘a woman who meets Carell at one of his shows and hooks up with him.’
In the Don Scardino-directed comedy, which is currently shooting in Las Vegas and Los Angeles for a 2013 release, Carell stars as the title character, a traditional Las Vegas magician who has been abandoned by longtime partner (Buscemi), is upstaged by a hipper illusionist played by Carrey and must rediscover his love of magic. Wilde will play Burt’s love interest, his former assistant who now works for Carrey’s character.
Burt Wonderstone will be a bit of a reunion for Jacobs and Carell, who will soon be seen together in apocalyptic comedy Seeking a Friend at the End of the World; she was recently shortlisted for the female lead in Sacha Baron Cohen’s The Dictator, but ultimately lost to Anna Faris.
