‘Greedy People’ Trailer and Poster – A Must-Watch Heist Film

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is back with a bang in the darkly funny crime thriller "Greedy People." Discover the hilarious heist and stellar cast!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is making a triumphant return to the big screen with the darkly funny crime thriller “Greedy People.” After taking a hiatus from Hollywood, Gordon-Levitt has been on a roll in 2023, starring in the musical “Flora and Son,” the series “Super Pumped,” and the film “Poker Face.” Now, he's bringing back his comedic timing in “Greedy People,” a film that promises to be a wild ride.

In “Greedy People,” Gordon-Levitt plays an outrageously corrupt cop who convinces a rookie (Himesh Patel) to steal one million dollars. The official synopsis reads: “Will (Patel) and his rogue partner Terry (Gordon-Levitt) upend their small island town when they accidentally discover one million dollars at a crime scene (of their own making). After the duo unwisely decides to steal the money, the community's quirky residents are lured into the mad dash for cash — ranging from an expectant mom (Lily James) to a masseur (Simon Rex) to a shrimp company owner (Tim Blake Nelson) — and everyone learns just how far they are willing to go for the almighty dollar.”

Directed by Potsy Ponciroli from a script by Mike Vukadinovich, “Greedy People” boasts an impressive cast that includes Uzo Aduba, Nina Arianda, and Jim Gaffigan. The film also marks a reunion between Patel and James, who previously starred together in Danny Boyle's 2019 Beatles alternate history rom-com “Yesterday.”

Gordon-Levitt's return to acting comes after a two-year break between 2018 and 2020, during which he focused on his family. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he shared his perspective on choosing projects that challenge and inspire him. “Having taken some time off, the perspective that I've returned with was just really wanting to focus on the art and the craft that I love so much,” he said. “There were, of course, voices in my head expressing concern about momentum, career building and things of that nature. But I knew that if I wanted to be happy, I had to choose my first project back as what would challenge me as an actor and really intrigue and inspire me.”

“Greedy People” is set to premiere on August 23 from Lionsgate. With its blend of dark humor and thrilling heist antics, the film is poised to be a standout in the summer movie lineup. Whether you're a fan of Gordon-Levitt's previous work or simply looking for a fun and engaging crime comedy, “Greedy People” is a must-watch. So mark your calendars and get ready for a wild ride with this stellar cast!
