Haley Bennett is the latest name to join the cast of the upcoming film directed by
Antoine Fuqua,
The Equalizer. Deadline reports that the
Marley & Me actress Bennet will join the rest of the cast including
Denzel Washington, Chloe Grace Moretz, Melissa Leo, Marton Csokas and
David Meunier.
The original series was created by
Michael Sloan and
Richard Lindheim.
The protagonist was Edward Woodward as Robert McCall, a private detective with a lot of contacts who is available to be hired to solve a problem that you do not know how to solve.
In the upcoming film, McCall (Washington), is living a quiet life when one of his acts of kindness towards a prostitute (Moretz) involves him in a crime attributable to the Russian mafia. Melissa Leo will be seen in the role of the former supervisor of McCall who now provides him with information.
The film was penned by
Richard Wenk with Todd Black,
Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch are producing through Escape Artists alongside Alex Siskin, Mace Neufeld, Tony Eldridge, Michael Sloan, and Washington himself.
The production of
The Equalizer will begin this month in Boston, USA to arrive in theaters on April 11th, 2014.
No word yet on who Bennett will be playing in the Sony actioner. Her upcoming credits include
Terrence Malick's
Knight of Cups and Saar Klein's directorial debut
Things People Do.
