Finally some comedy news guys! Helen Mirren has been signed up for the remake of Dudley Moore's classic comedy Arthur!
Mirren is set to join Russell Brand, and please, guys, just try to imagine this cast-team for a second. Brand is set to play Arthur, while Oscar winning classy lady Mirren will play his nanny. Now that already sounds funny, and we must say that this remake could be an awesome comedy to watch…
Ok, we know that this “nanny-thing” is a little bit confusing. So, let us explain. You all know Arthur is a 1981 film set in New York, which tells the story of drunken millionaire playboy Arthur Bach who is on the brink of an arranged marriage to a wealthy heiress, Susan Johnson.
In this 1981 version we had a chance to see Dudley Moore as Arthur, while Jill Eikenberry was Susan Johnson. It was both written and directed by Steve Gordon, and earned over $82 million at the box office in the United States, placing it fourth on the box office charts for the year!
The original movie plot centers around Arthurs who is a happy drunk with no pretensions at any ambition. He is also the heir to a vast fortune which he is told will only be his if he marries Susan. He doesn't love Susan, but she will make something of him, and that's what the family expects.
Arthur proposes but then meets a girl with no money who he could easily fall in love with (just for a record, that girl, Linda Marolla, was played by Liza Minnelli). When his family threatens to cut off Arthur's inheritance if he does not marry Susan, Arthur asks his valet, Hobson (played by John Gielgud) who has been a second father to Arthur, to help out, and so the story goes.
But, in this new movie, which is going to be directed by Jason Winer we'll have a chance to see a little bit different story. This time, Gielgud's role has been modified, and that's why we'll now have a nanny played by Mirren! Shooting for the film will begin in New York in July, with the script being developed by Borat writer Peter Baynham.
We hope that this remake is going to be successful one, especially with the name of Helen Mirren involved in the whole thing.

Ok… someone will get fired after this release…this is going to suck regardless. Why not hire writers that come up with new ideas, cause someone will have to think.
