Jim Sheridan (”In America,” “My Left Foot,” “In the Name of the Father,” “The Boxer,” “Get Rich or Die Tryin'”) directed his new movie “Brothers” from the script written by
David Benioff.
Actually “Brothers” is a U.S. remake of
Susanne Bier's 2004 Danish film, “Brodre” a film that won and was nominated for several international awards both for the film itself and performances from Connie Nielsen and Ulrich Thomsen.
A young man Tommy (Jake Gyllenhaal) comforts his older brother's wife Grace (Natalie Portman) and children after her husband (Tobey Maguire) goes missing in Afghanistan. While the two are still dealing with the intricate situation, Sam (Maguire) returns home. Carrying the heavy weight of post traumatic stress disorder, he starts suspecting that something happened between his wife and brother when he was away.
“Brothers” will be released on December 4th, 2009.
